Course Description:

Contractors often perform high-risk activities and may be unfamiliar with the specific hazards, processes, and emergency procedures at a site. Proper management of contractor safety is critical to prevent accidents, maintain regulatory compliance, and protect both contractor and facility personnel.

This Contractor Safety training course provides participants with the knowledge and tools to manage the interface between contractors and the Process Safety Management (PSM) program at a facility. Participants will learn how to evaluate a contractor’s safety program prior to hire, ensure that contractor employees are properly trained in key process safety requirements, and understand the hazards they may encounter while onsite. The course also covers how to establish and maintain ongoing oversight of contractor performance, including periodic evaluations of their adherence to PSM responsibilities. Best practices for benchmarking contractor safety programs and ensuring continuous improvement will also be addressed.
