The Asia-Pacific team provides process safety and risk management support and consultancy services to oil and gas, petrochemical, and special chemical industries. Additionally, the office serves clients in various industries including pharmaceuticals, warehousing logistics, power generation, waste and water treatment, industrial/electronic specialty gases, and solar cell manufacturing.
Process Safety in the Asia-Pacific Region
Process Safety Management (PSM) systems and/or Technical Safety studies in Asia are driven either by regulations or mandated by global corporate policies/requirements. We observe a consistent demand for these services in Asia. This demand encompasses new build greenfield projects and existing facilities across traditional O&G and other industries.
Developing countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia may have opportunities in new build projects through EPCs. Additionally, they also seek support for existing facilities. In developed countries like Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, etc., there is a drive for energy, cost, and yield efficiencies in manufacturing. This leads to modification works in existing facilities. Moreover, oil, gas, and technology companies are investing in hydrogen and/or green energy research, trials, and projects.

Pharmaceutical Process Safety in Japan: Ensuring Safety Across API & Plasma Manufacturing Development
In 2025, AcuTech Singapore assisted two major pharmaceutical companies in conducting Process Hazard Analysis (HAZOP) studies in Japan. The first project at a batch API manufacturing facility in Kobe supported insurance audit requirements. The second project in Osaka evaluated a greenfield plasma manufacturing facility at 60% and 90% design stages. The team also conducted a LOPA study to assess risk and evaluate safeguard controls for high-risk scenarios.
Sustaining Process Safety Excellence: Refining & Petrochemical Operations Across Singapore & Asia
Since 2023, AcuTech Singapore has supported one of the largest oil refining and petrochemical companies on Jurong Island with baseline Process Hazard Analysis and HAZOP studies. Our team has facilitated HAZOP studies across their refinery and chemical plant in Singapore and throughout the greater Asia region.
Building Compliance & Risk Resilience: PSM Audits for Industrial Operations in Singapore & China
AcuTech Singapore consultants have led and conducted PSM audits across Singapore and the Asia region, evaluating industrial gas, waste management, and specialty chemicals manufacturing plants. In 2025 and 2026, AcuTech Singapore completed PSM audits using the CCPS 20 Elements & RBPS framework for mining and specialty chemical facilities in Yunnan and Shandong Province, China.
Continuous Process Safety Support: API Manufacturing Plant Startup & Operations in Singapore
AcuTech’s Asia-Pacific office has supported a major Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) manufacturing client in Tuas, Singapore since early 2023. The office has performed HAZOP studies for all new batch manufacturing processes, including changeover cleaning procedures. Additionally, a full-time onsite consultant provides comprehensive PSM support activities for plant startup and ongoing operations.
Successful Petrochemical Unit Startups: Pre-Startup Safety Reviews Across Vietnamese Operations
In early 2022 through mid-2023, AcuTech’s Asia-Pacific office led and facilitated Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) studies for a major Vietnamese petrochemical company across multiple units, including tank farm and jetty terminal, flare systems, and olefins and Butadiene Extraction units. Following successful PSSR studies, all units commenced operations without major safety issues.
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management: QRA & Safety Case Development for Logistics Operations
Since 2022, AcuTech’s Asia-Pacific office has partnered with a major Singapore-listed warehousing and logistics company on Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) studies and Safety Case development. The engagement includes consultation with regulatory authorities on QRA requirements, sensitivity analyses, and submission of the complete Safety Case. AcuTech continues to provide ongoing support for QRA reviews of proposed modifications and new chemical storage operations.
