Development of a Process Safety-Based, Process Design RAGAGEP for Midstream Facilities

Process safety is often an afterthought in midstream operations since many midstream facilities are constructed and operated by the drilling companies which are excluded from PSM coverage by the oil and gas well drilling and servicing exemption. This presentation looks at actual examples of midstream industry design practices that were derived in actual PHAs. These examples can be used to aid in the development of a process design RAGAGEP for midstream facilities. The aim of this approach is to streamline design, simplify risk assessments/hazard analyses and improve process safety implementation and consistency. This presentation was delivered at the 2020 AIChE Virtual Spring Meeting & 16th CCPS Global Congress on Process Safety.
