Born and lived in Singapore most of my life; started my career in Mobil refinery Singapore as a process engineer (4 years) and then as a process safety engineer with Air Products & Chemicals in Singapore for 7 years. During that period with Air Products, I was based in their HQ in Pennsylvania for 2 years and then 1 year in their Shanghai office. Thereafter, I moved to a safety consulting and business role with Siemens Singapore (3.5 years) accountable for their pressure relief/flare and AIM software business. My next company was with DNV GL (3 years) as principal consultant and BD lead, and then with Ramboll Environ Singapore as Senior Manager, Risk Advisory (5 years) before joining AcuTech in March 2021.
In my role, I manage the PSM business for Singapore and SE Asia. I am focusing on providing value to clients and raising the profile of AcuTech Consulting in the region.
Process safety management is still not entrenched or engrained in certain industries or sectors in Asia. Clients or owners are often reactive or only fulfill minimum regulatory requirements. I hope to share my knowledge and experiences to help them see the value of PSM in their business.
My advice is that Process Safety Management (PSM) is not just incurring money or as an operating expense. Companies should see the mid to long term intangible benefits of PSM for the employees and organization.
