I grew up in Pompano Beach, Florida, attended University of Florida for undergrad and obtained my Chemical Engineering degree. After graduation, I moved to West Texas with an oil services company, Schlumberger, working as a field engineer in their cementing product line. I moved on to work at Dow Chemical at one of their ethylene cracker facilities in Plaquemine, LA for over 3 and a half years as an improvement engineer. I worked on LOPA implementation and mechanical integrity projects. I also provided technical support for operations emergencies as needed and worked two major turnarounds at my facility. In 2022, I started at AcuTech; switching from an operations role to consulting.
My role focuses on all things process safety- projects include a process hazard analysis (PHA) and process safety management (PSM) audits for clients. Having worked on the facility side and execution of new safety systems because of LOPA studies, I enjoy contributing that perspective in my projects to help clients!
My exposure to day-to-day plant operations and seeing Process Safety Management systems in action made me passionate about process safety. I saw the impact of having a robust system in place and how facility culture fosters that further!
I think an industry opportunity is openness and general understanding of the impact of good process safety culture at plants. This is the cornerstone of effectiveness of PSM systems! We need a great team and culture that understands, supports, teaches and is willing to learn as regulations change. This engrains safety culture from the very beginning and empowers thoughtful conversations across job functions in facilities.
My favorite part of AcuTech is the variety in the types of work we provide to clients. The company is always open to taking on new types of projects and empowers employees to expand their knowledge and skills.
I love spending time outside with my dog or traveling to see family and friends across the country.
