Introduction to Security Countermeasures
Protecting company assets and personnel from internal and external threats is a critical component of process safety and operational resilience. Security countermeasures help prevent unauthorized access, mitigate insider threats, and reduce the risk of loss, sabotage, or disruption to operations. Understanding and implementing these measures is essential for maintaining a safe and secure facility.
This course provides an overview of personnel-based, procedural, and technical security strategies for protecting company assets and personnel. Participants will learn about systems and equipment used for access control, intrusion detection, surveillance, and adversary delay, as well as cost-effective approaches to deter, detect, and delay threats. The course includes working examples and case studies, including sanitized attendee-submitted scenarios, to illustrate practical applications.
Participants will learn to identify critical assets, determine potential threats and vulnerabilities, assess risk, and deploy countermeasures. Effective programs are multidisciplinary, integrating security, legal, operations, IT, HR, and other relevant departments to monitor and mitigate threats. The course also covers the implementation of security zones, response planning, recovery measures, and the use of technical and procedural countermeasures to build resilience.
