Have Facilitation Skills – Will Travel

Just as Paladin roamed the Wild West as a hired gun and problem solver in “Have Gun – Will Travel," an experienced facilitator should have the skills to lead hazard/risk analyses across all industry sectors/operations. Facilitation requires a balance of the technical and interpersonal. Technical skills range from understanding complex systems and terminologies to having a basic understanding of operation, and the practical application of how things work. Interpersonal skills include the ability to ask probing questions, reach consensus, knowledge of body language, and maintaining a sense of humor. Examine the skills/traits of a successful facilitator, and how you can apply your experiences to lead a “one-off” assignment or begin leading studies in new areas.
